We're Boys

That means that we can't help but act like this.

Mom was tired of us shooting these darts all over the house this morning, so she put the guns away.

We outsmarted her, didn't we? We have an amazing ability to turn anything into a gun.

It's just part of being a little boy. Deal with it, Mom.

Happy Friday!

Oh, and by the way...we'll be in Buffalo in just FOUR days. In case anyone is looking forward to seeing us...

Tag, You're It.

I've found a new passion. Forget that dancing stuff. I've decided to become a graffiti artist.

I've been tagging things all around my 'hood.

We haven't yet documented all of the indoor artwork, but I'll just tell you that upholstered furniture accepts chalk very, very well.

Just wait til I'm taller. It will greatly expand my available work space!

Mom caught me, but couldn't yell since I was drawing on the patio...which it totally allowed and acceptable.

She can't really yell at me anyway. Look at me.

Could you yell?

Didn't think so. You'd probably just give me a marshmallow like Mom did.

Have a good day!

R

Easter Pics

We know, we know...Gramma Jojo sent the email looking for an update.

Here are a bunch of Easter pictures that will have to do for now.

More adventures soon...after we come down off of our sugar high.

Earth Day

Happy Earth Day, everyone!

We plan to head outside in a bit and plant some flowers together. Obviously, we'll take pictures of this and post them later.

We need to wake up a little bit first, though.

Ry is still pretty sleepy...

...but not sleepy enough to stop pestering me.

It really is interesting to hear how many times each day I get yelled at for bothering Ryan. You'd think that guy never did anything wrong. Well...he does. He is a pest.

On another note, we got to meet some special people last night! Grandpa Ken's sister, Aunt Annette and her son, Cousin Mike, are in San Diego for a visit. We went over to Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner, and we had such a nice visit and we were so happy to finally get to meet them. I liked Mike immediately, and pretty much spent the whole evening sitting on his lap. Family is a pretty special thing...

We're headed out to plant some flowers. Happy Earth Day!

Love,
J

Sad News

Many of you have already heard our sad news. Our sweet little chickie Fluffy is no longer with us.

She was sick when we got home from our camping trip on Sunday, and though Mom did her best to help her feel better, she didn't make it through the night. Poor little Fluffy :(

We had a ceremony for her on Monday evening, attended by immediate family. Mom and I selected a good site in the yard for her, and after saying my goodbyes I helped bury her body.

We talked about how her body would turn back into dirt and feed the worms, making our garden healthy and how we could think of Fluffy when we see the pretty plants in our garden. I decided we will plant something with pink flowers in that spot...she laid little pink eggs, you know.

Life goes on, though...and here we are on this cold, cloudy morning, playing together in the house.

What? We're being good.

See how casually I'm just standing here, stretching?

It's gonna be a long day for Mom.

Love,
J

Friday Videos

It's Friday. We haven't really posted anything all week. Somehow time just seems to be going by really, really fast.

Monday we played with friends.

Tuesday we went to Grandma and Grandpa's after school.

Wednesday we stayed home and mom did mountains of laundry. You'd be surprised how much laundry two guys like us can generate.

Thursday...now Thursday was pretty awesome. Started out like a normal Thursday...went to school. Grandpa picked me up and took me to the park to play tennis. Pretty good day, huh?

Well, THEN Mom came and picked me up and we went to a movie! This was my first time at a real movie. We saw the Easter Bunny movie, Hop. We both liked it a lot. I admit I did have a very hard time regulating the volume of my voice. Whatever. They play those movies so loud and there were only 6 other people there anyway. After the movie, we went out for dinner. Just me and Mom. I got to choose any place I wanted, and I chose the Mexican place near the little airport. We sat and ate rice and beans and watched planes and helicopters for an hour. It was fun.

And today....we're going CAMPING!

I'm sure we'll have lots of pic to share after this weekend, but for now we'll just post a few silly videos.

I've been working on some new moves.

This is why we love golden retrievers...

That's it for now. Have a great weekend!

The Fluffster

Who's that peeking out the window?

Oh, hi Fluffy.

You really should wash your windows.

It was just another weekend at the Holko house...

We're still playing with the changes to this page...bear with us.

We hope you had a great weekend, too!

Flower Fields

On Wednesday, we headed up to Carlsbad to visit the Flower Fields.

It was rainy that day, but it didn't stop us from having a good time. We met up with lots of friends and played on the playground, ran around the flowers, and even went on a tractor ride.

(You should see the picture of all of us! But, in the interest of not posting pictures of other people's children online, we won't put them up here...)

Here Ryan and I are, standing in front of the mom-paparazzi snalling pictures of all of us.

I pushed the stroller for Ryan all morning. I didn't crash or tip him over.

I was watching out for him on the playground, too. Here I am bringing him back to Mom. I told her that some guy was touching Ryan and I got him away. Mom asked me which guy was touching him and I pointed to a guy in an orange raincoat. (Turns out Mom wasn't too upset about it since the guy in the orange raincoat was smaller than Ryan...but she was still glad I told her about it.)

The flowers. See that bluish-grey stuff at the top of the picture? That's supposed to be the ocean. It's quite a view on a sunny day. Oh well.

Mom loves this part the most.

Ry smelling the flowers...

Taking after Grampa Mike, with our hands in the pond. Most of the other kids were looking at the birds or the flowers. We were immediately drawn to the pond.

Mom's favorite picture.

My favorite picture.

Cutie pie Ryan in the flowers.

Well, I'm pretty handsome, too...

And here we all are. There was a nice foreign couple who kept watching me and Ryan play in the flowers. The guy insisted that he take a picture of the three of us together.

It was a pretty fun morning, followed by lunch with a bunch of our friends. Thanks to Jack's mom for organizing the event!

And that brings us to today...

Have a great weekend!

J

The Dancing Gene

We're not exactly sure which gene is the "dancing gene," but we're sure Ryan has it.

Check out his moves!

You may remember my infatuation with this song. I've danced to it many times (like here)...You may even notice me standing in front of the computer, watching the video. Again. It's pretty popular with us Holko boys.

We have some more stuff to post...but we'll get to the tomorrow!

Fun in the San Diego Sun

We have had such a great couple of days!

Sunday, we had a fun family day. We started out by going on a nature walk...

We saw lizards...

...and caterpillars!

Ryan thought these little guys were really neat.

Then we had lunch near the coast and went to the beach for the afternoon.

Mom said I could go in the water in my underwear. I wasn't too sure about this, but it seemed like a pretty fun thing to do.

Imagine my surprise when she said I could also pee in the water! I wasn't too sure about this either. She told me to be subtle and not pull my pants down...

Dad was with us. Mom had to remind him that it was ok to play and get his feet wet.

Then Monday we went to Legoland! We met up with my friend Ella and saw all sorts of cool stuff.

This guy is Chewy. I thought that was pretty great.

R2D2 was really cool, too.

This guy came with us. He was so good, even though he couldn't really go on any of the rides.

My favorite ride? The cars! Check me out. I even got a driver's license after this.

And then this morning was pretty great, too.

Ryan and I were really quiet and we snuggled into Mom's bed.

I showed her what was keeping us so quiet...

She didn't seem to care as long as she could take pictures of us. She even seemed to think it was pretty funny that Ryan was the one who went out and found the candy, brought it back to bed, and snuggled in with me. He knows I will share candy if it means I get to eat it for breakfast.

Happy day!

Love,
J
