Lazy Weekend

This was a good weekend. We started it off by spending Friday night over at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Grandma Susan told mom and dad that what happens at Grandma's stays at Grandma's...and that Ryan and I were both good.

Mom and Dad came over to get us Saturday afternoon, after dragging it out as long as they could. Then we all had dinner and a swim before going home.

Sunday, we just kinda hung out at home. It has cooled off from last week when it was so hot, so even Daddy came outside with us.

Here are a few pictures from our afternoon...

Hope you had a good weekend, too!

Beetles

If you've talked to Jake in the last month or so, you've probably heard the story about the day there was a beetle in the car with him. Lord knows I've heard it about 65 times.

Mom will even admit that the beetle buzzing around the car was a little bit scary, but she has gotten over it. Jake has not. At least once a day, he comes running over to me and Mom, crying about a beetle in the yard. Finally, we caught a picture of one.

Anyone else think it's funny that there is a picture of a beetle on Jake's shirt?

Big day today. Mom and Dad's anniversary. Not sure what it means, but for some reason we've been shuffled off to Grandma and Grandpa Holko's for the day...and night!

Today is also Auntie Lindsay's birthday. We are sending big, huge hugs and kisses her way.

The Boys Are Back in Town

We are back from our fabulous trip to Emerald Isle in North Carolina. Ryan and I are having some trouble adjusting to the time change and have been sleeping a lot...Mom said that's just fine.

Most people who read this were either on the trip with us or have already heard about it, so we won't spend too much time with the details. The important points:

  • a house right on the beach is a great thing
  • we love spending time with family
  • mom will never fly alone with me and Ryan again
  • Mexican jumping beans make a gigantic mess when you knock a whole display of them over in the airport
  • Delta is the worst airline ever
  • we wouldn't trade the week we spent in NC for anything
Pictures are on Mom's facebook page HERE if you are interested...

Here is the only video Mom took while we were there.

We've been trying really hard to get Ryan's new trick on video, but it's not as funny as it is in person. Here we are playing together.

I Know Where It Is!

Mom asks me where stuff is all the time. I'm usually pretty good at finding it.

That's because I'm usually the one who took it.

I think Mom's onto me though. She has figured out my favorite secret hiding place.

Looks like a normal couch, right?

Well, you wouldn't believe how many hiding places there are here.

In other news, last night was pretty much the most fun night EVER. Mom said it ranks right up there with the Sesame Street Live show as one of her favorites, too.

Mom and Dad picked me up from Grandma and Grandpa's house for a surprise trip. (Ryan stayed there and got his own fun night with Grandma and Grandpa.) We stopped and had tacos for dinner and then headed to SeaWorld!

I got a map and I was the tour director. I picked out where I wanted to go and when I wanted to see, and that's what we did. I even got to go on some rides!

And then, we saw the best thing of the night. A show. With whales. And fireworks. I was clapping and screaming and laughing and it might be the most excited I have ever been. Mom was pretty excited, too, I think. We ate cotton candy and got all sticky while we cheered on the jumping, splashing Shamus. I sat on Mom's lap and looked up to the sky for the fireworks and we got excited about each new shape and color we saw.

It was incredible. Definitely a perfect night.

And tomorrow....we're off to North Carolina to visit with some of our favorite people. (Ryan gets to come this time.) I'm sure we'll have lots of pictures to post and stories to tell when we get back.

J

Buzz Buzz

Look what we found in the garden this morning!

(photographer's note: the subject was a bit cranky and the sun was a bit bright...we will be re-scheduling this photo shoot once we have some antennae to complete the outfit)

Have a good day :D)

Video Friday

Here's a video for you...me, singing an African song that I heard two weeks ago.

Mom thought it was pretty amazing that I remembered it and could sing it. In case you want to sing along,

"Funga alafia. Ashe! Ashe!"

Please feel free to correct us if we are wrong, but the guy who taught us the song said it was a West African folk song that means "welcome neighbors, peace to you."

Have a great weekend!

I posted a little picture of me with a big smile on Saturday. Aunt Candy and Cousin Al sent me a big box of goodies. I've been playing with "stinky" the talking garbage truck pretty much non-stop since it arrived. Somehow Al knew just what I would like.

Yesterday I got to taste one of the other treasures they sent out for me. Mom said she remembers Aunt Candy giving her these when she was little.

Not sure if you can tell, but I thought these were just about the coolest candy ever.

And Ryan, of course, just because he's a clown...

Our little friend Isabella came over to spend the afternoon with us yesterday, too. I'm pretty sure Ryan has a crush on her. That guy has more girlfriends...

And one last picture of me and my new blanket. Mommy started making this for me about 2 years ago and finally pulled it out and finished it. Very cozy.

We're off to the beach this morning with some friends (MY girlfriend this time) and then my buddy Jack is coming over this afternoon. Sounds like a pretty good day.

But before we go...here is another dancing video. We've heard that there are a few fans of my dancing out there. Enjoy!

The Jellyfish

Last night after dinner, the whole family decided to go for a walk/bike ride around the neighborhood.

I hopped onto my bike and looked up at the sky.

"Look, Mom! The clouds look like jellyfish!" I yelled. (Of course I yelled. Why would I announce something like this quietly?)

She looked up and confirmed that I was right. They really did look exactly like big, huge jellyfish.

"Just like the jellyfish that Ken and Betsy gave us, huh Mom?"

This is the cool jellyfish Ken and Betsy gave us while they were visiting.
Mom had a really surprised look on her face and gave me a really, really big hug. She ran inside to grab her camera to take pictures of the jellyfish in the sky. (They looked better before we actually got to take a picture.) As she was coming back out, Aunt Becky called.

Mom told me it was one of those really special times when you know someone is with you, even though you can't see them.

That made our family walk around the neighborhood even more special.

I love my family.

J
