Super Fun Surprise

You're not gonna believe this.

Tonight, Mom and Dad took me out for a special surprise. They didn't tell me where we were going, just that we were going to see a show. I had no idea what this meant.

We ate dinner, left Ryan home with Aunt Sarah, and headed out. I was hopping and skipping through the parking lot. I was excited.

We got our tickets and went into this big building. Then I knew it was something special.

There were kids everywhere! I saw some snack counters and one very exciting booth that had all kinds of Sesame Street stuff. I squealed a little bit and said, "Oh, look at all of this STUFF!" I was so, so happy. I was looking at all of the shirts and stuffed animals and light-up spinny things, and then I spotted it.

A pair of Elmo binoculars. I thought I might like to see them. Then, Mom and Dad said I could HAVE them! (I overheard Mom telling Dad that I had picked the least expensive and most useful thing in the display. Yay me!)

I kinda thought this was my surprise...but it got better. We went and sat down in the big room with seats. I tested out my binoculars for a few minutes while we waited for what Mom kept telling me was the real surprise.

A voice came over the speakers. It sounded like Big Bird. "That's weird," I thought. Mom confirmed that it did, indeed, sound like Big Bird.

Then, it happened. The lights got dark. Some crazy lady came out on the stage. I thought, "Wow, some surprise, Mom." Just as I was about to settle for a pair of Elmo binocs, BIG BIRD CAME OUT ON STAGE. He really did. Then Elmo. Then Bert and Ernie. Then Cookie Monster. Then Abby. Even Oscar...there were others, too.

IT WAS AWESOME. They sang and danced. I sang and danced. I ate Red Vines...as many as I wanted. I checked everything out with my binoculars. Mom kept telling me that I was being sooo good.

What a night!

Love,
J

PS - Mom said she's sorry that the videos are sideways...apparently you need to hold the camera sideways to get it right.

That's so cute it made me a little misty. He sounds so excited in that clip. I did that once with a video camera too (turning it sideways) I think it's cause we both have a viewpoint from a still camera perspective. Oh well, I just rotated my monitor!
